Approved CSR Projects: FY 23-24

Project: Water conservation
Partner: S M Sehgal Foundation
Location: 4 Villages of Behror block, Alwar, Rajasthan
Beneficiaries: 4,800
Key Initiatives: A multi-year project where we are supporting the rejuvenation of 4 ponds and allied agricultural development activities, such as farm bunding, laser-levelling, and setting up of sprinkler irrigation systems for farmers.

Project: Water conservation
Partner: Action for Food Production
Location: Kondapur Mandal, Sangareddy District, Telangana and Nelamangala block of Bengaluru Rural District, Karnataka
Beneficiaries: 22 villages with a population of 21,000
Key Initiatives: A multi-year water conservation project to develop conservation structures such as check dams, recharge shafts and percolation tanks to improve groundwater recharge. Additionally, we are organising sensitization sessions for the community and capacity building for farmers on the efficient and productive use of water.

Project: Sustainable livelihood through climate-resilient practices
Partner: United Way of Bengaluru
Location: Pudussery, Pallakad, Kerala
Beneficiaries: 18,100
Key Initiatives: The project has two major components-water conservation and farmer support. Under water conservation, we have rejuvenated ponds and lakes, restored dried bore wells and constructed check dams and rooftop rainwater harvesting systems. For farmer support we trained them in the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method of paddy cultivation and helped community members to develop household nutrition gardens.

Project: Integrated water resources management
Partner: Dilasa Janvikas Pratishthan
Location: Aranvoyal, Murukanchery, and Kothambakkam villages, Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu
Beneficiaries: 10,870
Key Initiatives: Major activities for this project include rejuvenation of lakes, removal of an invasive shrub species that consumes water and harms the ecosystem and replacing them with native species of plants through sapling plantation.

Location: 30 villages and semiurban areas near UBL Ludhiana, Punjab
Beneficiaries: 53,900
Key Initiatives: A multi- year project with major activities which include pond rejuvenation and civil construction of recharge shafts and rooftop rainwater harvesting structures.

Project: Jal sanchayan
Partner: Akhil Bhartiya Gramin Uthan Samiti (ABGUS)
Location: Rajpura Alamgir, Dharuhera, Rewari, Haryana
Beneficiaries: 19,788
Key Initiatives: Background and Key Initiative: As per the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Rewari district falls in the overexploited zone. The region is under tremendous water stress with declining groundwater levels in many places. Considering the need of the community, the Water Conservation through Pond Rejuvenation project was launched in 4 villages of Dharuhera. By rejuvenating 5 ponds, this project is expected to benefit more than 20,000 community members from 4 Panchayats who are primarily dependent on farming and livestock rearing.

Project: Shudh Payjal
Partner: Akhil Bhartiya Gramin Uthan Samiti (ABGUS)
Location: Tapukara, Tijara, Alwar, Rajasthan
Beneficiaries: 11,817
Key Initiatives: The objective of this project is to enable access to safe drinking water for the beneficiary communities. We have installed 2 drinking water hubs of 1000 LPH capacity equipped with remote monitoring and an RFID-enabled dispensing system. the water plants are sustainable and high-tech by design.

Project: Oxygen Hub
Partner: Prayas Youth Foundation and CanPack India Pvt Ltd
Location: Waluj MIDC, Aurangabad
Beneficiaries: 63,250
Key Initiatives: A multi-year project to develop an urban native forest using the Miyawaki plantation technique. We have planted 75,000 trees of more than 50 native species in a stretch of about 5 acres of industrial land. This is Maharashtra’s biggest man-made forest acting as a carbon sink and home to a diverse group of biodiversity.

Project: Oxygen Zone
Partner: Prayas Youth Foundation
Location: Waluj MIDC, Aurangabad
Beneficiaries: 64,500
Key Initiatives: A multi-year project to develop an urban native forest using the Miyawaki plantation technique. We have planted 75,000 trees of more than 80 native species in a stretch of about 6 acres of industrial land. The project aims to improve green cover and biodiversity in the project location which is largely industrial.

Project: Tarang Agroforestry
Partner: Prayas Youth Foundation
Location: 8 villages near Aurangabad
Beneficiaries: 17820
Key Initiatives: The project aims to empower women farmers and enable a sustainable source of livelihood through Agroforestry while improving the green cover of Aurangabad district. Through this project we are partnering with 30 women farmers to create fruit forests with more than 15000 fruit bearing trees. This project will promote livelihood, environmental sustainability and boost rural economy with climate resilient agricultural practices.

Primary Education

Mini Science Centres

Primary education reveals the horizons that empower the recipients to establish a name of their own and help society in their own ways. It is the first step to becoming a contributing member of the community and no person should be deprived of the opportunity. Children in their early years are most receptive to information and so it is the best time for them to know the benefits of primary education. UBL lends a hand in promoting conducive learning environment to the schools in the villages around its breweries. The myriad projects range from unique Mini Science Centres to providing basic infrastructure support with the help of the NGOs in the areas.

Activities undertaken:
  1. Installing working science models
  2. Making science education more interactive and interesting to the children
  3. The first of its kind Science Centres of the country
