Approved CSR Projects: FY 23-24

Project: Jal Samwardhan
Partner: Dilasa Janvikas Pratishthan
Location: Pale Khurd village, Raigad district, Maharashtra
Key Initiatives: The water conservation project aims at enhancing water availability in the area. It primarily focuses on rejuvenating the village pond and constructing a cement nala bund structure.

Project: Provision of RO water purifiers
Partner: NA (Direct Implmentation)
Location: Karnataka
Key Initiatives: The key initiatives of this safe drinking water project include provision of RO water purifiers with coolers at 15 institutions in Karnataka.

Project: Water Conservation Project (Phase 2 – Repair and Maintenance)n
Partner: Action for Food Production (AFPRO)
Location: Bhamian Khurd village, Ludhiana, Punjab
Key Initiatives: This project aims to repair and maintain the pond site at Bhamian Khurd village, Ludhiana. We rejuvenated this pond, along with 5 other ponds, in an old water conservation project that ended in March 2023.


Project: Water Conservation Project, Rajasthan (Phase 2)
Partner: SM Sehgal Foundation
Location: 7 villages of Behror block, Alwar, Rajasthan
Key Initiatives: In April 2022, we decided to continue our interventions under the Water Conservation project at Alwar by launching Phase 2. We widened the scope of our intervention to more villages focusing on water conservation. Phase 2 of the project is also a multi-year project running from 2022 to 2024 where we are aiming to increase groundwater recharge through rejuvenation of 7 ponds, laser leveling in 60 acres of farmland and installation of 48 sprinkler irrigation system.


Project: Jal Sanchay
Partner: SM Sehgal Foundation
Location: 2 villages of Nelamangala, Karnataka
Key Initiatives: In 2022, we conducted a need assessment study to understand the pressing issues of our co-communities. Nelamangala was found to be one of the over-exploited regions for groundwater. Therefore, we initiated this project in 2022 wherein we are rejuvenating 2 large water tanks in Hydalu and Tyagadahalli/Bettahalli villages. Under the project, we have also formed Village Development Committees which are responsible for maintaining the water tanks in the long run and we have been working in collaboration with them since the beginning of this project. Community engagement will ensure the sustainability of the project even after project completion. The project will eventually help in improving the water storage and groundwater recharge in the villages.


Project: Jal Shakti
Partner: Dilasa Janvikas Pratishthan
Location: 7 villages of Sangareddy, Telangana
Key Initiatives: We launched this project in 2022 to ensure availability of safe drinking water in the project villages and improve farmer livelihoods. This will be a multi-year project running between 2022-24 where we will install 6 community-level RO plants. We will be working closely with farmers to demonstrate farmer field schools and organise group awareness sessions for community knowledge enhancement on climate-resilient agricultural practices and mass-level farmer convention programs. These activities will help reduce the input cost for farming and water utilisation for agriculture, enhance crop productivity per acre leading to increased farmer income, while also ensuring increased availability of water in the region.


Project: Jal Khushali
Partner: End Poverty
Location: 6 villages of Chopanki, Rajasthan
Key Initiatives: Initiated in 2022, the objective of this water conservation project is to replenish groundwater and increase water availability through rejuvenation of 6 ponds in the project villages. The pond rejuvenation also includes allied activities like development of recharge borewells and soak wells, installation of solar streetlights, benches, community-level waste collection bins; and plantation around the periphery of the ponds. To ensure sustainability of the project, we have formed water user committees and we will continue working with them to enable capacity building of the members.


Project: Jal Akshay
Partner: End Poverty
Location: 4 villages of Rewari, Haryana
Key Initiatives: As per the need assessment study conducted during the year, Dharuhera was flagged off as one of the over-exploited regions for groundwater level. We therefore initiated this water conservation project in 2022 with the aim to rejuvenate 5 ponds and increase groundwater availability in the 4 project villages. The pond rejuvenation also includes allied activities like development of recharge borewells and soak wells, installation of solar streetlights, benches, community-level waste collection bins; and plantation around the periphery of the ponds.


Project: Jal Unnati
Partner: Action for Food Production (AFPRO)
Location: 8 habitations of Nanjangud, Karnataka
Key Initiatives: We launched this new multi-year water project in 2022 to conserve and replenish water sources and enable access to safe drinking water in the project area. The water conservation component includes construction of 3 artificial recharge structures, desilting and renovation of an existing irrigation tank, renovation of 15 existing open wells, drilling new borewells and pumps, and construction of water tanks. Under safe drinking water, we are renovating 9 existing RO plants and setting up a new community-level RO plant.


Project: SAKhEE (Strengthening and Advancement of women in Khordha by Entitlement and Enterprise)
Partner: Urban Management Centre
Location: Khordha, Odisha
Key Initiatives: Project SAKhEE aims at empowering marginalised women near the Khordha Industrial Estate to earn livelihood and access social security entitlements. As part of the project, various activities will be undertaken to build their knowledge, skills and agency so that they are able to access opportunities and manage enterprises that provide them a dependable livelihood and make them resilient to face the world on their own.


Project: Project Oxygen Zone
Partner: Prayas Youth Foundation
Location: Waluj MIDC, Aurangabad, Maharashtra
Key Initiatives: A multi-year project, launched in 2022, to develop an urban native forest using the Miyawaki plantation technique. Under the project, we are planting 50,000 trees of approximately 80 native species in a stretch of 4.94 acres of industrial land. The project aims to improve green cover and biodiversity in the project location which is largely industrial.


Project: Haritha Samruddhi Phase 2
Partner: People’s Service Society, Palakkad
Location: Pudussery Gram Panchay, Palakkad
Key Initiatives: After the successful implementation of project Haritha Samruddhi Phase 1 in Pudussery Gram Panchayat, we have launched phase 2 of the project in FY 23-24. Apart from the repair and maintenance of the components of phase 1, under this project, water conservation interventions such as sub surface barriers and big pond deepening, and development of Oxygen belt using the Miyawaki plantation technique are included. To ensure the sustainability of the project, local community will be involved since the beginning of the project.

Project: Kartavya
Implementation Partner: Action for Food Production (AFPRO)
Knowledge Partner: Indus Impact Consulting LLP
Location: 10 villages of Ludhiana, Punjab
Key Initiatives: The project addressed the issues of excessive consumption of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol, responsible hosting, etc. through general awareness sessions and behaviour change programmes.

Project: Support in construction of Badminton Courts
Partner: Bengal Badminton Academy
Location: Bantala Area, 24 Paraganas, West Bengal
Key Initiatives: The project includes construction of four badminton courts as part of the synthetic courts in the Shuttle Express Stadium being constructed at Bantala Area, 24 Paraganas of West Bengal. The project aims to promote the game of Badminton in the state.

Mini Science Centres

Primary education reveals the horizons that empower the recipients to establish a name of their own and help society in their own ways. It is the first step to becoming a contributing member of the community and no person should be deprived of the opportunity. Children in their early years are most receptive to information and so it is the best time for them to know the benefits of primary education. UBL lends a hand in promoting conducive learning environment to the schools in the villages around its breweries. The myriad projects range from unique Mini Science Centres to providing basic infrastructure support with the help of the NGOs in the areas.
